Whether you are new to dog ownership, or a long time friend; have a puppy, or care for a senior dog; own a purebred or a mixed breed from the shelter; regardless of your situation, your dog is precious to you. You only want the best for your dog, just like you want the best for every member of your family.
But statistics show that preventable accidents are the leading cause of death among companion animals. According to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), one out of four additional animals could be saved if just one pet first-aid technique was applied prior to obtaining emergency veterinary care. Unfortunately, there is no "911" for pets. According to Kris Crawford.
Our 2-hour Canine 1st Aid class will give you the basic information and skills you need to keep your pet safe and to act with confidence during an emergency. Our class is presented by, Dr. Cristi Derenzi-Blackwolf, a licensed emergency room veterinarian with 20 years experience. Most pet first aid classes are taught by someone who simply took a class and has no animal emergency medical experience.
Subjects covered in the class include CPR, poisonings, broken bones, heat stroke, bloat, monitoring vital signs, proper emergency procedures, identifying problems requiring immediate attention, and how to keep your pet healthy. Also covers disaster preparedness.b
While 1st aid techniques for dogs are similar to those for humans, they are not the same. Knowing the difference could mean life or death for your canine best friends.
Cost: $50.00
Classes are scheduled the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30pm to 9:00pm
